About Dr. Heather Tuckman
Dr. Heather Tuckman is a licensed clinical psychologist who has been helping people feel better and improve themselves for over 20 years. She provides therapy services to individuals, couples, and groups. Her work experience also includes assessment, teaching, presenting, professional writing, and advocacy.
Heather specializes in helping women address maternal mental health issues and complications of reproductive loss. She also works with groups and couples on these same issues. She is skilled in helping people through difficult transitions, including negotiating major life changes and the emotional impact of challenging medical conditions. By applying the elements of transformational growth and asking the right questions, Heather can help people make better decisions consistent with their personal values and objectives.
Heather has specialized training in maternal mental health and perinatal/postpartum treatment, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, treatment of individuals with serious medical problems, and treatment of veterans, military personnel, and their families. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Psychological Association, American Psychological Association, Association of Contextual Behavioral Science, and Postpartum Support International.
Heather has practiced in West Chester borough since 2007. After completing an internship at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, she received her doctorate in clinical psychology (PsyD) and then went on to complete a postdoctoral fellowship in neuropsychological assessment, cognitive rehabilitation, and therapy. She then worked briefly in group practices before becoming a sole-practitioner, and eventually formed Tuckman Psychological Services with her husband, Dr. Ari Tuckman.
Separate from her professional life, Heather enjoys being with her family and friends, spending time outside, hiking, gardening, and exercising. Heather grew up in the American West near Lake Tahoe in Nevada; she misses the mountains and snow.
